A Little "Off"

Have you ever been stuck? Have you ever felt like you were in a rut you just couldn't get out of? I've been struggling lately with that feeling. My intentions are good when my feet hit the floor but somewhere between the waking process and the doing process I get lost. It's not that I'm not getting things accomplished; good, needed, necessary things mind you, I just feel like there's something I've neglected at the end of the day.
My husband retired a couple of years ago so this year I cut back my work hours as well. While my morning routine has stayed pretty much the same I'm kind of lost as where to spend the rest of my day. There are multiple opportunities and I've taken advantage of many of them, but I just can't seem to gain any traction. Maybe I haven't adjusted to the new schedule yet but things seem "off" if you know what I mean.
After much thought and prayer this is what I seem to hear: "You're feeling 'off' because you are living in a different time. You are being prepared for a new season that has absolutely nothing to do with your work hours." I'm reminded of Romans 13:11-12 which reads "And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." Paul was absolutely correct in this statement. His salvation was getting closer every day. As a Roman Citizen, Paul was a member of an extremely prosperous and powerful empire but his life was in constant peril because of his preaching on Christ. He saw the times in which he lived as "the last days" and they were. Once The Messiah, Jesus Christ, came on the scene the countdown of the ages began in earnest. How much closer to the end of this era are we today?
As I look around me at the chaos, unrest and general disfunction of our world I believe the time is now to wake up from my slumber just as Paul taught. I need to understand the present time I am in and put aside the "deeds of darkness". I need to stop spending my time on things I can not change and focus on what God has called me to do today. He is the only one who can make change happen. Perhaps my "off" feeling has very little to do with me and much more to do with being about my Father's business while there is still time.
Are you seeing the world a little off today as well? Is there something deep inside you that feels unsettled about our current state of affairs? Maybe it's time for you to take another look at the God I believe in. He has said if we seek Him we will find Him, if we seek with all our heart. He knows your heart and all those questions it holds. Why not open up to Him about what's going on in your life (It's not like He doesn't already know). He's just waiting on you to make the decision for Christ...a heart decision not based on emotions or knowledge but on a deep desire to be a part of His calling. We all have that spot that only Christ can fill. What have you been trying to fill it with?
